Physical education teachers are providing a limited number of sports by dedicating two to three weeks to each sport.  By doing so, physical education teachers are unintentionally creating generations with limitations by teaching minimal sports each year.  To help combat generations with limitations, I created a new pedagogy/teaching model called the TALENT Model.

 

TALENT stands for traditional sports (invasion, fielding/striking) adventure & outdoor education, lifetime wellness (Health Standards), exercise & dance, net/wall games, and target games.  The TALENT model ensures that a wide variety of sports, games, and activities are being taught to students with the goal of finding hidden talents, and passion for physical fitness.  This will be accomplished by: dedicating only three to four days to each unit, replacing a skills test with a skill progression checklist, Independent Team Teaching within the school's PE department, and offering more variety than a traditional PE class.
